Whoa! Don't do anything as ridiculous and entirely unnecessary as growing up. That's taking things to an extreme.

It's taken me years to decide what I want to be if, or when, I grow up. I finally dismissed being a cowboy or fireman and decided what I really want to be is captain of a Klingon battle cruiser. Guess I don't have to face adult employment for a few centuries at least. Phew!

I had a new DRZ400SM in 08/09 and it was a blast to ride. Unfortunately it was stolen with only a couple thousand kilometers on it but if it wasn't I'd probably be in the poor house as the farkling on those is several times more crazy than the Versys.
The Versys to me is as much fun but with the extra oomph I was always looking for the the DRZ and a much better fuel range....

I had a DRZ400S. Fun toy bike. Needs a 6th gear and better seat for any serious riding. Range sucked. Better know where the fuel stations are when you are out riding in the woods.

It is truly a dirt bike made street legal.

Some guys will spend thousands to make it a viable distance rider.

Heres mine. Its a fun bike. The first photo was what I got in a trade and then after a lot of work including a new engine is the finished version with the sweet clarke tank. I can ride all day;-)

I am certainly pushing the age at 56, but no supermoto freak here. I like trails and street, and backroads. No desire to do any of this--video from Sweden group called Superretards

Yes, and I hope I don't get that addicted to spend that much. Pretty much gonna have to make some mods if I do the TAT from here to Oregon this summer. Must haves, bigger tank, skidplate, rear rack, bags, and Kenda 270s.

I suppose it is a toy, but isn't that what motorcycles are? I suppose the Multistrada owners call our Vs toys?
Cheers!

Hi Element - no, can't get them new here anymore. I think 09, like the US, was the last of the new ones. They're quite desireable to a niche market here and they hold their prices very well. I paid UKú3200 for a one year old example in November 2009. You'd still be paying the same today for the same bike if in good nick. I sold mine to a guy in Bristol (other side of the country) who paid me in full without even seeing it... He contacts me now and again to remind me what a hoot it is. I've even offered to buy it back, but he won't play ball. Can't blame him really...!

Building my first supermoto bike 10 or so years ago is what attracted me to the Versys. After a while, I missed the sumo and sold the Versys. Considered the DRZ but wanted more so am currently building the XR650R sumo I wanted 10 years ago. The Versys was great when I could only have one bike. It had a dirt bike like feel but the electric start, long range, fuel injection, better lighting and luggage capacity and was just a better bike for day to day commuting. Wish it had abs, a center stand, and a better power to weight ratio though. Now that I can have 2 bikes (at least ;-0 ) again, a new V-Strom should be joining the sumo soon.
