Yeah, I really like the new Vstrom and I went to the Suzuki dealer the other day to see if he had one and of course, he didn't. He says some time next year. I really like the new Vstrom and probably would have bought it if they would have had one.

Nope, keeping the Versys. The Vstrom is a 2nd bike.

Looks like a much hyped-about, rehashed styling change to the same old blah. Gotta own one to appreciate it, I guess.

I did own one and now I own a Versys... The V-strom has a far superior motor... I mean the versys is a great bike in all... but lets face it... it has a paint mixer for a motor... Ride a V-strom and you will see what the hype is all about... Not knocking the Versys either...

New Strom, still fugly. I thought the Versys was styled kind of ugly at first but over time I really fell for it. Don't think I could ever warm up to the VStrom.

Well in all fairness I must say I have never ridden one.

The engine is that much smoother?

These can come really decked out from the factory with a touring screen, 12v plug, hand guards, and a "skid plate". It was in the most recent cycle world magazine. Honestly, I would have had a 2012 VStrom if I hadn't bought my V this year. Hell, I might even trade for one this spring.

Yep, the engine is smoother and pulls through a wider power band than the Versys. I have owned 2 Vstroms and will probably buy the 2012 as they have borrowed the Gladius engine and retuned it a little. I rode a Gldius (discontinued) and was surprised at how much more power it had even thought it looked like vstrom engine.

anyway, I can't beat my Versys for day in and day out riding. It covers all the basis most of the time. The vstrom will be my 2nd bike bike (again) when I buy one

I was looking at/sitting on the new V Strom today. It's obviously a bigger bike physically compared to the Versys, just like the previous model. The dealer had two on the showroom floor, a white one and the burnt orangey colour (which didn't do it for me). One was totally standard and the other was farkled with a few bits and pieces. I know the quality of the Versys is OK, but the VS doesn't look any better and again, it's been built to a price. Sitting on it, well, both feet on the floor and a comfy riding position. You seem to sit more in the bike, or maybe the bulk of the fairing makes it seem like that. It would certainty offer more weather protection overall compared to the Versys. Overall, TBH, it looks just as bland as the previous model.

Good luck exploring the infinite abyss

I think you were sitting on a new 2011 model as the new 2012's haven't hit the floors yet. They might have told you it was "new", which it was, but not the 2012 model. I had a dealership tell me the same thing the other day and I had to point out that it was a 2011 model.

I see one in the shop window of the Suzuki dealer I pass each night. It's been there at least a couple of weeks.

The blacked out Adventure 650 (on the website) looks like it would be a good ride. I never owned or rode a Vstrom, but I have only heard good things about them. I don't like that they stamped Suzuki in the panniers though. That looks kind of cheesy IMO.

Are you sure it's the 2012 650 V-strom and not the old 650 or any year of the 1000 (which hasn't been updated)...? Because if it is the new 2012 650 V-strom, then that will be the first one so far I heard of in North America...
