Nice review. I hear BIKE magazine did a review between the tiger 800 and Versys. Hope to find a copy of that somewhere.

I've just taken that issue of BIKE to my dentists (I like to spread the word ). It wasn't an in depth road test between the bikes, more a simple side by side comparison within a bigger story on the new Tiger. The Versys is BIKE's favourite middleweight at the moment and won the shootout in the June 2010 issue.

Good luck exploring the infinite abyss

My local dealer has a F800 with 1500 miles for $12K. Yikes!

My offroad experience would have me pick the KTM 690R over them but with so many complaints about FI failure I would probably pass it over. Even at a hundred pounds lighter it's still a heavy dirtbike. For new would probly go Husky TE630.

A guy really needs to decide what kind of riding they want to do, and what kind of bike(s) their primary riding partners have (if they have them).

These bikes (BMW & Triumph) aren't great road bikes and they are horrible dirtbikes. Think I'll keep my versys and get a real dualsport or a plated dirtbike. I really like the versys on road, it's a great handling bike.
