found this on craigslist and brought it home

Was killing some time looking on craigslist and found this..just couldnt believe my luck. A 2000 Kawasaki W650, one owner, 18k miles, fully documented service records, all purchase receipts, came with two windshields, another seat in perfect shape, a set of crashbars in the box( never mounted) the guy had all the original sales articles from the dealer at time of purchase, and about 8 magazines that did reviews of the bike that year!....bike has only a few small blemishes. he was asking $2750.00 and when i asked how much he would take if it was cash on the spot...well $2 grand and it was mine!!...SCORE!! the guy had it in storage, and hadnt rode it in 3 years, and was moving to england and just couldnt take it or the other toys (ATV, Jetski) with him.... im happy!

Great buy, you can ride that for years, get gas mileage galore, AND it has the cool factor.....and insurance should be very cheap

I didn't know kawasaki made a bike like that, thats cool. From the pictures I would have guessed it was A bonneville, 2 thumbs up on that.

What a great find at a great price! I owned one for three years and it was absolutely one of the most character laden motorycles I ever had. Soulful sound, steel fenders and sidecovers, fork gaitors, the bevel drive head and even a kickstarter!

Unfortunately....totalled in a rear ender....I miss it.

Never really took a good picture of it but here are a couple. Good luck with yours!

If someone had told me that was a Bonneville T100, I probably would have believed them at first glance. Likely second, third, and maybe fourth as well.

Kawasaki is about to reveal a bigger replacement for the defunct W650 Triumph Bonneville replica, confirming internet speculation.

The bike will be called the W800 and feature a largely similar chassis, but feature a disc brake at the rear and power hiked to match Triumph’s own modern-day Bonneville, at around 60bhp.

Kawasaki’s original W650 was popular with customisers, especially in Japan, but it was always hampered by its authentically flat 49bhp parallel twin motor. If Kawasaki keeps a lid on the price, the W800 should give the reborn Bonneville serious competition – the W650 was widely praised for out-retroing the Hinckley bike until it was discontinued in 2006.

The link worked for me. I'd love to buy one especially an 800cc, but I need to replace my Versys once I'm mobile again.

I would love to have a retro bike with modern conveniences. FI, disk brakes etc. I have been considering a Bonneville as a second bike for the around town rides. I would really love something in the 350-500cc range better though (like the old days). Dont need much power to tool around town at 45MPH & slower. An 800cc is going to be heavy for what I need... but we'll see. If Kawasaki overprices it, they can keep it.

tsunamichop007, I live in Christiansburg. Maybe someday I can come up and check out your W650 & your V. We could talk Versys & retro for a bit. Great find for a retro bike! Keep me in mind if something comes up and you need to sell.....You never know!
