I have a 2016 Versys 1000 had a 09 Versys 650 along with an FJR between them. I enjoy my V-1000 its comfortable in city, freeway, and twisty roads. Nice smooth engine and transmission with a clutch like butter. I do a lot of lane splitting here in SoCal its great for it. Here my ride up into the mountains checking out my new tires......

Nice ride Joe, you don,t seem to be dropping gears in the twister, holding constant gearing and speed. What was your average speed?

Never pay attention to the speed always watching the road. That road has lots of black sand and stones all over it most of the time. If you go off the road you can just kiss your butt goodbye...

What a wonderful road, and to think it's on the edge of Los Angeles. I rode it about 8-10 years ago while doing a cross country on my KLR. They had some of it and other nearby roads closed due to an earlier fire. It drove my GPS nuts. Finally had to drop onto the freeway to get over to NAS Point Mugu.

Yes its my favorite road to ride and i always go during the week so hardly anybody on the road. Just starting up the road theres a sign letting you know of any road closures one part of it up past Newcombs was close for a year due to rock & mud slides. Going the back way is nice also. Just take a left onto Angeles Forest i forget the road you take after that but you can see it in the video below....

You can skip to 11 minutes and 15 seconds of the first video to see where you leave Angeles Crest Hwy to go onto Angeles Forest Rd.

Most of the rest of the ride going in the back way...
