Dumbest mistake ever
So... I hadn't mentioned my mental affliction here, because it wasn't relevant. However, given the nature of my little screw up today, this makes more sense if I just tell you I have ADD and haven't been able to take meds for it for about a month now.
Anyway, I go outside to load up my bike and go to work today. Took off the cover, unlocked the disk lock so as to not set off the alarm, but left it on the disk while I did some other stuff.
Totally forgot about it. About 5 blocks away, someone tried to wave me over to (I believed) have a discussion about my bike, but I was on my way to work, so I wasn't going to stop.
That was when things started happening. I saw a flash of orange as the reminder cable suddenly lost the weight extending it, and it snapped up into my view. Then I saw something black in my peripheral vision bounce off the ground and instantly remembered my disk lock.
No damage to the bike as far as I can tell, and the lock still works. One of the keys was in it and that's gone now, but my wife went back and found the fob, which has clearly been modified by Michelin.
I guess I'm not done making dumb mistakes. Lol.
