I just come back from insurance and registration.

Insurance for my 2018 Versys 650 I pay 151$ a year ( that is with 75% discount )
Registration is 100$.

For other world maybe cheap but for my country where average monthly salary is 950$ , not cheap.
But what I can, if I wish to ride i need to pay

Before it was much more expensive, but prices get down after my country become part of European Union

Gas for heating, diesel for plowing, electricity for cooking, petrol for driving

I'm surprised at the high rates for insurance in Canada compared to the US. I would have thought it would be the opposite since you have national health insurance. I assume a large part of one's liability cost is coverage of medical payments to the injured party in an accident for which the rider is at fault. In Canada, do the insurance companies reimburse the government for those costs? I would have thought not. Obviously in the US those costs could be significant.
My rate actually went down this year from $115/year to $85/year for the maximum liability coverage ($500,000), but no comprehensive or collision coverage. Older rider with no violations.

Quebec, Canada
2015 650 Versys
no accidents, 40+ rider
deductible $500 liability $2mil
insurance premium $204 (I have 2 cars, condo and the bike with the same insurer)

But we get the license plate $650 per year (and we can ride only 16 March to 1 December)
We have the medical insurance with the SAAQ (mandatory through the license registration)
For sport bikes, the license plate is $1400 per year.

so total is $854 :O:O before throwing the leg over...

I'm paying $172 a year for full coverage ($500 deductable) on an 03' HD 883 Sportster. About half of what I was paying on the 15' Versys 650 LT.

Ufda on the Vs. Mine with max liability including the KLR is just over $200/year. No personal injury as that is covered under medicare(US.).

And we can ride year 'round.

Yeah, if you want true ram air tuning, you better be willing to ram some air! (SteveinSunnyFlorida)
