Failed gear-up landing...

Why put your foot down at a stop if you don't have to, right? I mean, it's cool and all... Right up until it's suddenly not. Haha. More damage to my pride than anything else.

I've dropped mine in the garage. And I almost dropped it today in a parking lot. I put my left foot down in some gravel when backing out of a parking spot. I saved it, but my son was watching and laughing at me. It's all part of owning a motorcycle.

I don't care what you ride, just ride.

I have a bad right knee. I always put my left down first and take the weight of the bike, then the right and balance.

Until that one time..... knee hyper extended at 0MPH and boop. Jump up and.....look around.....anyone see that???? Nope, didn't happen!

I almost lost it doing the same thing when pulling up to a stop sign and my last-second touch landed in someone's errant bubble gum on a 90+ degree day. Looked like an epileptic break dancer for a second, but kept it up. The bad thing was it happened in front of two beautiful ladies walking down the sidewalk. They gave me an applause. Oh well. At least I made them laugh. 😋

OK, that brings to kind another embarrassing story...

Back in about 1992, I had a Suzuki GS550E(D). One day, I thought I'd show off for a cute little blonde girl I knew, so I planted both feet on the ground, grabbed a hand full of front brake, revved up and let the clutch go.

It wasn't the front wheel racing skyward that really impressed her.

It was the rear turn signals trying their best and failing to knock me down on their way past me.

When I was working on buying my '62 Vette (back in '87...), I was riding w/ the previous owner, when we stopped at a STOP sign beside two pretty ladies. They both looked, then one said "Pretty car!" to which he responded "Pretty ladies!!!"

Thought THAT was a PDG response!

(Sold the '62 in '08 - LONGEST I ever owned a vehicle - 21 years!)

I was doing a chain check one day... (ignore the mess in the garage )

It sounds a lot worse than it actually was. The H&B engine guards, with highway peg in the down position, took almost all of the force of impact...
