Difference Between Versys 1000 2017 and 2018 Models?

Just bought a new Versys 1000 ABS (KLZ1000B) in Australia. Vin 10th letter J supposedly means an 18 model. Label on the bike says the build date is 11/17. Dealer said it is an MY18 bike. Queensland vehicle registration says it is 2017. Guy doing the service last week says it is a 17 bike saying it does not have the 2018 changes.
So what are the changes from the 2017 model to the 2018 model?

In the USA if the 10th position of the VIN is a J the bike is a 2018....the VIN digit identification system is a worldwide standard that every vehicle manufacturers adheres to .....there really is no debate .... and a manufacture date of 11/17 would also indicate a 2018 model year.....

I spent a lot of time in central Queensland during the early 90's as a test engineer in the mining industry (Curragh was a big customer). The weather was always great, but prices for goods were quite high compared to Ohio. What is the retail price of a Versys 1000 in Queensland?

According to my dealer (in the USA) the only changes were the colors and the side stickers (which may vary from country to country).
In the USA, I was looking for a red 2017 but there is only 2018 models in that color. Also, there is no Orange in 2018 (only 2017). The black one came with red details in 2017 and green details in 2018.

Yes Aussie bike prices are substantially higher than US. Same for parts. Not up with bike prices but generally I think new bike sales volume is down so there are deals on prior year models still in stock. Bought a 15 ZX10R a couple of years ago about AUD$6k under the 16 new price, but that is an unfair comparison as that bike changed from 16 on. I guess there are new prior year Versys 1000s still in stock at dealers which is partly why Im questioning the differences from 17 to 18.

Versys 1000LT US models for 2017/2018 are only in black. 2017 has the red stripe stickers and the 2018 has the green stripe stickers. My understanding is the 2018 Canadian Model comes in the color red.https://www.kawasaki.ca/product/versys-1000-abs-lt The basic bike from 2015 up is the same except for colors. The 2015 model did not have a gear indicator incorporated in the instrument cluster. It was a Factory accessory that mounted into the front dash panel. 2016 and up has the gear indicator Incorporated in the cluster. No changes in body, engine, or drive line. between the years. Just color and or body stickers. I found a NEW 2015 leftover for a ridiculousness low price in black. And then bought the accessory gear indicator, with some of the savings. That is why I have studied this, to see if I was going to settle with a new three year old bike.

Side Note: Any Canadians with a red 2018 Versesy 1000LT that want to trade your red plastic for my black plastic, let me know.
