First Long Ride on The 1000

Only had the 2016 1000LT a couple of weeks now and have been breaking it in on short trips alone. Finally felt it was safe enough
to try a two-up ride.

Riding sport bikes for over 30-years then when the wife was ready to ride again (kids grown and gone) I bought a Yamaha FJR.
The bike served me well until it was totaled in 2015 (t-boned by a young driver). I wasn't looking forward to two-up riding, convinced down-grading on power from the FJR would be depressing.

But to my surprise the Versys did fantastic, hardly noticed the additional weight of the passenger. Even in the hills I didn't notice a significant loss of power or having to downshift.

The handling is another pleasant surprise even with a passenger. I might have scared the wife a few too many times but she really liked the bike and it was very comfortable for her. I might have ended my solo riding career do to her liking the bike a little too much.
Anyway great bike so far and no regrets in the purchase other than the the farkle money I've spent the last two-weeks.

Take care

Domenic

Good Deal,

My girlfriend was pissed when i sold my 09 V-650 and got an FJR. She loved riding on the back of the Versys. She was not a fan of the FJR. We test rode the Versys 1000 last July and she was sold on it so we traded the FJR in on one.The only catch was she didn't want the green one we test rode and i felt the same so had them bring a Titanium one in the next day.

We didn't care for the 2017's color, the wife didn't care for the green either. So we had the dealer locate a new 2016 titanium for us.

I would still be riding the fjr if it wasn't totaled, but the weight was starting to be much as I got older. So far love the Versys.

Take care
