Talking Blue Ridge Parkway, anyone?

WOOOHOOO!! Headin out in less than an hour for my first overnighter. One week on the Dragon (what's open anyway), Blue Ridge Parkway, and whatever else we fancy while there. Roads like that are rare here in Iowa. Three of us. Campin everynight. Weather's lookin sketchy but that's what they make the gear for, right? Hopefully have some good pics when we get back. See ya in a week! Oh, did I mention?...... WOOOHOOO!!

Sarcasm is a privilege.......not a right.

08 Versys....1st bike and love it!

Those of us that are doing the North Georgia Ride will be in that neighborhood next weekend, but I suspect you witl be heading back by then.

A couple of things to watch out for.

Watch your speed in NC they have some interesting penalties there. You can lose your license for a year is you are going 15+ mph over then limit...and you get points for 10+ over. They are just looking for your money, but depending on your states reciprocal agreement with them.

Aso watch your speed on the roads controlled by the federal gov (Foothils Parkway), as they can get you for going just a few over and there are only a hand full of places to pay the tickets.

Tennessee watches the Dragon pretty closely, but not all the time. Make a recon trip before you really run it. Most people will warn you if a cop is in the area.

The only problem I have had in the area is in NC. I think they keep an eye out for out of state bikes...thy don't think you will fight a ticket.

Weather in that area is very unpredictable because of the mountains. It always seems to rain on Newfound Gap, but it can be raining on one side and nice on the other. You can ride around a lot of the weather. You just have to be prepared to change your route, so be flexible.

Where are you staying in that area?

Steve

I bought a motorcycle because my wife said that I couldn't! Now I have two and she still says I can't have another one!
