Deer didn't like me on a bike

I got hit by a deer saturday night and will be off bikes for a few weeks. The BMW was not hurt much at all but I broke my collar bone some ribs and bruised my left lung pretty bad.

Ouch. I have had a few close calls but never made contact on a bike. Had an elk jump over me once when I was out hunting on a quad. That would have left a mark.

It happened around 10 at night. It never hit the bike just me.

I am assuming that you went down, am I right? If so your bike was lucky also.
I wish you a speedy recovery.
Several years ago three ran across the road right in front of me in a curve. In the instant I saw them I knew that there was no way I could avoid them all so my mind said brake, brake, brake harder than you ever have. Luckily the one I hit was the smallest and probably weighted less than 75 pounds. I tried to keep upright and almost succeed...almost being the definitive term here. Checking the road later for skid marks, there wasn't any...that's just how fast it can happen so be careful out there. The front of the bike (SV650S) looked like a grenade had exploded with a direct hit. The front forks weren't bent but everything else was finished. I was lucky to only break one finger and one toe plus a bunch of road rash. As I recall the insurance bill came to around $3500 to repair.
