Thought this may be funny, had a weird day at work on tuesday as greenpeace tried to stop coal delivery to where i work, if you do look at this you tube vid 58 sec in you will see yours truly waving my arms as talking to truck driver where to tip a load, made the day go fast anyway. this has nothing to do with bikes okay

Yeah, I can imagine the comments about her chains! I have to say, I am totally ignorant about the alternative wood pellet to coal option, but if it is truly cleaner and could be cost effective, I would love to see it happen. I regularly wait on and watch the mile long trains of coal rolling thru our city and wonder how long we can smoke our planet, and don't even like to think about the oil spilling into our gulf right now. I was at graduation last night, and the speaker made a good comment. He said, regarding the future,"many problems you (graduates) will face have not yet been created." I wonder just how long we can continue to be part of the problem, not part of the solution. Sermon finished!

BTW, did the pellets get removed, and was Greenpeace fined or anyone jailed? Very interesting story.

That was my question.

She probably needs a shower or three but those liberal girls can be fun.

We just let the pellets fall through and burnt them, we have trialed them before but greenpeace do not really tell the true story. Since this is a bike forum will try to be brief so we can go back the the gloriuos subject of the V. When we trialed them they were mixed with coal, created a lot of extra dust and the big thing is volume, we burn over 600 tonne of coal at peak and i do not have accurate figures but a tonne of coal has a lot greater energy than a tonne of pallets so you would increase truck movements which in turns would increase transport costs and then you burn all that extra fossil fuel. There are a huge amount of other varibles that come in to it. The two biggest boilers have whay is called 100% baghouse which is all the flue gas passes through massive filters (goretex socks wrapped around steel cages) and all waste fly ash is conveyed to a bunker where it is backloaded on trucks to refil the mine. Most of our north island sites the boilers are gas fired due abdunce their. GP also told porkies as they do not stop the coal feed as that nice you girl and freind only chain themselves to one end we had anough coal tipped for day and the plan was to remove them at night, bring 3 milk tankers in way of camera's and let cops do there thing or as you say in states 'take em down' I was not there at night but it was all done peacefully as they did not really want to stop us but give a message, if they want to stop they should be her oct/nov at peak not when we have 2 weeks to go to shut down.

Element, they were arrested for trespass and they cut through a fence so will be charge for that, a good freind of mine was in charge of the op but they got a few hours at the police station, a feed then released, we a pretty freindly place really

I TEND TO GET ANGRY WHEN i AM CUT OFF BY A CAGER TEXTING ETC......

But KIWI....perhaps if I start to use reason and a quiet voice when I point out to drivers that they are jeopardizing not just my life but theirs too.....Hmmmmmm....might work.

Multitasking is a fallacy....and at 50 mph....it's just plain deadly.
