Auto Shipping Company

Good lord knows there's enough scammers out there, has anyone successfully shipped a car? I just moved to Phoenix and I think I wanna drag Vlad the Pimpala out with me after all.

What company did you use? How much did you pay?

There are many companies that do this, and there are open and closed carriers (closed being he most expensive).

This is one of the functions of my job, and the main companies I've used are Reliable Carriers, Intercity, Pilot Transport, Select 1 and Waggoners. There's also Horseless Carriage, but I haven't used them. Then there's BMT (Bavarian Motor Transport) but they only handle the east-coast moves. Sierra Mountain handles west coast moves.

Prices can range from $500 to $2500 depending on distance. Cross country is generally over $2K. There's usually a surcharge on top of the rate. Ask for a non-rush rate, which could take two weeks but will be the lowest price.

I think all have web sites. Call and see if you can get an email address for someone to bid on private retail moves (my contacts are corporate account managers). Then email all of them and ask for bids. Provide the type of car, pick up city, drop city, and approximate timeframe. They should all reply with their best bids. Good luck.

Car shipping...

I have shipped a couple cars in the last 5 years. New York to Arkansas and Seattle to Arkansas.
Do a "google search : for auto shipping.... now : go through the sites looking for a auto shipper broker. They take the information and have the shippers bid for your shipping. Go through a couple different brokers... DO NOT pay a up-front fee for this service.
If you belong to any motor clubs ( AMA , AAA ) may offer diccounts. I have never had any problems . In most cases I have had to go to a large local parking lot because the trucks could not get down my street. I all cases the truck drive drove the car to my house and then I would take him back to his rig.
I have never shipped a motorcycle but I think the method would be the same.
