That's the first time I've heard of a recall stopping sales and production of an automobile much less 8 models - 2009-2010 RAV4; 2009-2010 Corolla; 2009-2010 Matrix; 2005-2010 Avalon; 2010 Highlander; 2007-2010 Tundra; 2008-2010 Sequoia; and certain 2007-2010 Camry models.

Something tells me there's more to this "sticking accelerator pedal" than Toyota would have us believe.

or they are a bit more pro-active then we're used to. Most companies try to hide stuff like that until they are forced by lawsuits to settle or fix.

Moon Dust Gray Versys, with lots of farkles.

Vlast

P.S. I bought my Versys to support my photography hobby.

Or, it could be a clever ploy to get owners back into the showrooms to sell them a Prius!

Interesting that other automakers are piling on Toyota while it's down. Hyundai and Ford are offering and extra $1000 for anyone trading in a Toyota on one of theirs. I've got two Toyotas in my garage, both with Denso accelerator pedals, fortunately.

Yah - remember the "...exploding when hit from behind Pinto hatchbacks"...?

The only thing worse than being tailgated by a Toyota Avalon is being tailgated by a Toyota when there is a Ford Pinto in front of you

So the worse case scenario is a Toyota tailgating you while you tailgate the pinto in font of you and there is a Ford Explorer on your right side with under inflated Firestone tires.

Did we miss anything?

Yup. Almost 40 years ago. I don't think you'd care for a 72 Toyota, either.....

At that time, I owned a 71 VW beetle. It was twice the car of either one.

There has to be room in there somewhere for an "unsafe at any speed" Corvair. ( rear weight bias, fatal flaw steering column?)

First car was a 77 New Yorker. 6000 lbs (making it about 4 times the car the beetle was), 440cid, Corinthian leather seats. Got 18 mpg on the highway too.
Can't believe you kept that boat anchor 307 under the hood of your Chevelle.

Yeah, with the sequential rear turn signals. I rode in one a few times... Nice deep rumble from that engine.

I'm glad my 2004 Toyota is not drive-by-wire, although my brother's 2005 DBW runs fine.

They have been hiding and denying this for years!

First car was a 1969 Toyota Corolla! No radio or air! Drove it until it wouldn't run and bought a new Mazda RX3!!!

Steve

I bought a motorcycle because my wife said that I couldn't! Now I have two and she still says I can't have another one!

1950 Ford Coupe (NOT the business coupe) - the one where the rear windows pivot open - complete with dual straight-pipes and a Mercury flathead (MORE cubic inches). My Mom's car was a POS '55 Dodge 6 cylinder with a slipping clutch, so I was telling her how to drive mine so she could try it out.
"I've been driving for ... years - I know how to drive!" she said as she got in, and just BEFORE she laid about 50 feet of rubber when she 'dumped the clutch' like she'd do in HER car !
