Maintenance Tool Lookup

Hey guys, I've been working on a site as a little side project to learn Ruby on Rails. It's a place to lookup the tools you need for various maintenance on your bike.

I have an 08 Versys and 07 Monster. I've filled in the info for doing an oil change on the duc, view it here

The one for the Versys is currently blank (just got mine in May, haven't changed the oil yet), but take a look here and contribute if the mood strikes (you'll have to create an account to add tools).

This is still early in development and I'm looking for any feedback that you can give, either on this forum or you can e-mail me directly from the contact form on the site.

Thanks a million!

Great idea. I like it. You can add a pdf of the workshop manual detailing the working involved. Also include the torque settings.

How-to's and Specs

Eddie,

Thanks for the reply. Having a place to attach a pdf of a manual is a good idea. I have the functionality to add how-to videos (as on this page)

As far as adding torque settings, the site is meant to have user generated content - so any "spec" can be added - whether it is a torque setting, socket size, oil weight, whatever the case.

There is a bunch of extra functionality after you are signed in as a user - like saving an inventory of your tools and your bikes.

The last thing I was working on was the ability to load a service and it would highlight any tools that you were missing - so you know what to beg, borrow, steal, or buy to get the job done.

I'll work adding the tools/specs on the oil change page for the V, it may make more sense with that stuff filled in.

Versys Oil Change specs filled in

Ok, I filled in just about everything for the versys oil change.

Check it out - let me know if this kind of information all in one place is helpful.

Thanks!
Mark
