My wife's western vacation
My wife and her sister are taking an "all sisters" vacation this spring. Originally they were going to China but that has morphed into a two to three week trip to the west coast of the U.S. My wife wants to go to Seattle because Washington State is one of the few states she hasn't been to, but her sister wants to see San Francisco (my wife has been to SF). Both of them would like to see Yosemite and Sequoia NP.
My suggestion is to fly from DC to Seattle, hang out a couple days then take the train down to SF or Sacramento and rent a car to tour SF and the parks and then fly back home out of whatever city they rented the car from.
The other option is the train/bus tours that go from Seattle down through the parks. I don't think they would enjoy that as much because they won't have their own transportation to explore at will.
There "made up" budget is $1500 each.
Anyone ever done the train thing down from Seattle or have any input on it?
