My friend wrecks bad deal!

On four wheelers. My friend powered out right at the top of a steep hill.

He didn't jump off and tried to ride the four wheeler down the hill backwards. He tried to break and the bike went side ways and rolled on to him.

I watched the whole thing from behind and raced over to him. When I got there the bike was on top of him and gas was leaking out as it was upside down.

I grabbed the bike and kinda threw it off of him! Damn thing landed right side up. I was pretty scared! He layed there for about 30 minutes. At first he couldn't talk. Then he just kept saying my ribs.

One hour later, a pain pill, and four ibuprofen, he was back on his bike and slowly, slowly going back to the truck. We were about 10 miles in on top of the beartooth mts. I was so happy to get back to the truck.

He is going to be one sore cowboy today!

He could hardly get in and out of the truck!

Glad to hear he was able to limp away. I've known a lot of people that have been hurt on 4 wheelers. Seems those things always land on top of the rider.

Glad he is okay, we got a lot of 4 wheeler injuries here from farmers rolling them on steeper country.

If he hurt his ribs he's probably trying not to move at all. The slightest movement will hurt like hell.

Thanks invader, any one of us would have done the same thing!

He just called me! Two broken ribs and his spleen checked out ok!

He is lucky!

Thanks Capn! With his permission I'll post two photos I took of the site with him and the bike in it after.

I post this stuff so we all can learn from it. I know this is four wheelers but, if you power out on super steep spot and the bike starts to go backwards JUMP OFF! Let the bike go!

If you never ride atv's disregard!

My brother has 18 quads operating on his farm and they can be deadly machines on hill work, in inexperienced hands. Each new employee undergoes a specialized training session before operating one on the farm. A new young employee wrote two new Honda Big Reds off. He was band to using a horse only. He quit shortly after.

Here are the pictures of the wreck site. My friend was able to ride out but still has not recovered. He is able to walk around now but is in pain.

You can see the tire marks as he powered out at the very top and started backwards. At that point you want to jump clear of the bike. Do not try and ride it out! Lesson learned!

Not that steep until the top. Last two feet straight up and down. That what cause's all the problems. New route is off to the right. Not the trail you can see but one more trail over.

Was he in the wrong gear? is that a 450 or 500? Your friend does look heavy, and a bit old to be pulling stunts.

That's a honda foreman 500. Yup just put a couple photos instead of video!

No gear and older is right. I told him I'm only riding beginner trails with him and I mean it!
