Random acts of kindness

West to a Bike Night at the local Cycle gear last night, saw a guy on a Triumph 800xc and started chatting him up a bit, talking about local trails and rides to hit up on his route (he was from Alberta, heading north from Vegas) He was trying to fit a tank bag onto his bike and I mentioned I was looking for a new one as well, as the Versys tank is much too narrow for my current tank bag, and then he tells me "just have this one (joe rocket manta) because I'm going to buy a new one and what would I do with two tank bags?" I was astonished.. He just gives me, what looks to be brand new, his tank bag. All he told me was to "help someone else out down the road". Thought I would share this cool story

Awesome! I've had people pay for my stuff at a store on two different occasions, both insisted they pay for it. Both times it wasn't much but still! Good to know there is still good in the world

I have a manta bag too. Make sure there's no dirt on the magnetic pads or it will scratch up the tank a bit. Holds very tight.

Yeah, pay it forward - good karma is your friend!

Great story! I have a Manta bag for my Versys which the PO tossed in my truck as I was getting ready to drive off with his old/my new toy. "Can you use this?" Yes, I can...and I still do.

I love the concept of paying it forward so I wrote a column about it. (Here, in case anyone is interested.) The world could use a lot more paying it forward...glad you were part of such an exchange of goodwill.

Good post. If I guessed correctly, this Triumph owner could have been on the receiving end before and thus "passing-it-on".

My first experience of pay it forward was working for a business as a driver/storeman and the guy I worked with helped a stranded motorist and told him to pay it forward.

I have done that and received such assistance on many occasions since. Bikers often do it without thinking as we are a community where many will help each other out and just be friendly.
