It was a good day for a ride
For the first time this year I got in a good ride. I’ve had all kinds of heath issues since August last year when I had to have a stint procedure, including another stay in the hospital for respiratory problem, a reaction to a drug they put me on. While I have been out once or twice this year nether was what you would call “A Good Time”.
So today when I rolled the KLR out into the sunshine I was happy that things “Clicked” The bike fired right up and settled in to a nice idle after sitting for months. I didn't want to take the Versys as there is still a lot of salt on the roads BUT it's day is coming soon! I’d use my new compressor to fill the tires and even my gear was clean and fit, I’ve put on a few pounds.
It was in the low 50s but the sun was shining and the roads clear other than a few puddles of snow here and there. I did about 50 miles and had a great time. As I was heading back in to the grocery store a guy on a ST1300 pulled up next to me at a stop sign and grinning yelled “It's a WONDERFUL DAY for a ride”. He then said my bike looked brand new. I told him it was a 09 and he said it’ll last forever with the care I give gave it.
Even the trip to Kroger was a good thing as it brought back memories of good rides last year. PLUS I got the normal looks from the old ladies as I shopped for grub and one even ask “How are you going to get than home, Young man”? When she called me Young Man I was ready to kiss her! I think the ride did more good than all the doctors I seen since August put together!
Or was that look THEN leap?
