Or NOT. Actually the 'jump' was made by Bud Ekins, as the movie-company would NOT allow Steve to do it!

BTW - my first bike was a '62 Triumph Thunderbird 650, and like MOST guys back then rode my "street-bike" everywhere. My first dirt-bike was a '74 Yamaha DT360 'enduro' bike.

I remember running the T-bird in a recently plowed dirt field w/ a buddy on his Royal Enfield 700, and I've seen videos showing guys on H-D V-twins on a "scrambles" track.

I was involved in a movie shoot with Bud Ekins long ago. The shoot was at Paramount Ranch. The movie was a grade C minus called Cycle Psychos. It was a western where the cowboys rode motorcycles rather than horses.

There were about a dozen of us extras riding on our dirt bikes. The scene we were shooting had Bud riding on the craziest bike I had ever seen. It was a mid 50's Royal Enfield twin. It sported the following equipment. Horse saddle for a seat. Texas Long horns for handle bars, and was all decorated up with tons of genuine horse equipment.

Bud was all dressed in cowboy garb and riding the horse/bike while Eddie Mulder, riding a Montesa 360, followed him swinging a rope lasso attempting to lasso Bud. They cut the scene when Eddie made a successful toss around Buds waist. Us extras were following behind Eddie watching the whole thing.

The next scene had Bud riding slowly on the horse/bike with the rope around his waist and the other end tied to a tree. When he got to the end of the slack in the rope he got yanked off the bike. The editors then spliced the two scenes together for the full effect.

We got paid $30 and got a free lunch for our efforts. I never did see the movie. Think it most likely was a big dud.
