Still no word why it happened?
Truck driver have a heart attack or sumpin?

Unmitigated risk aversion is the new Puritanism; complete with witch hunts funny outfits and humorless preachers thundering doom. The Deity is Safety; Satan is a Lawyer; but the object is the same: to suck the life out of life and tell you how to live it.

Last I heard, there were no charges against the driver hauling the trailer at this time. That can always change. Damn shame no matter how you look at it. Regardless, of who is ultimately at fault. The carnage was hard to look at. Immediately it reminded me of something similar that happened here about 8+ years ago. Driver of a dump truck plowed right in the back of about the same number of riders. Three were killed and others seriously injured.

It's been swell, but the swelling has gone down.

I heard that a witness stated the truck ran across the double yellow line then tried to correct by throwing it back into the lane when his trailer started to jack knife.

“There was a pickup truck with a flatbed trailer heading west and he crossed the yellow line and tried to swerve back and his trailer jackknifed and wiped out [the] people on the motorcycles,” said Jerry Hamanne, who owns The Inn at Bowman nearby.

Gents, great debate. In my riding group we have only one rule. Ride your own ride!

Our group (3 riders maximum) rules include staggered formation on straight stretches of road, the whole lane is your's in the curves. The lead rider always waits at turning points, ride within your skills and don't try to keep up if the ride is faster than you are.

Also, take your turn to buy coffee at breaks. No cheap buggers allowed.

The news just reported he was charged last month with a DUI!!! And he's still driving for this company? I see lawsuits galore...not that this will bring any of the lives back.
