It looked like the guy on the bike was going WAY too fast. Also, if you look at the stop light above the Cadillac, the motorcycle obviously ran a red light. Of course, the SUV also ran a red light.

nope... SUV guy's fault all the way

if I'm answering your question I assume the basic points have been addressed, such as: did you do a compression test? is it still on fire?

I would say that the bike was going pretty fast relative to the other vehicles.

Even if it was the SUV guy's fault, it could have been avoided by being aware of what could potentially happen at the intersection.

Hope he/she is OK.

Im gonna agree with 2 W addict, regardless of who was in the right the bike was going too fast for the situation. I was a pro driver for many years and Ive seen alot of sickening stuff on the road.Scares you pretty good.Too much could go wrong in a busy intersection like that and on two wheels youre gonna lose.Get as much daytime running lighting as possible. Save the speed for someplace where you can have more control over what happens. In an intersection I do a quick survey from pro driver experience and if there are more than one situation that I can react to I slow right down to super defensive mode. A wizened biker told me in my youth that on a motorcycle you should ride through an intersection like youre in a parade, that is my mantra!

Doesn't matter who was at fault. The motorcycle rider lost. Yes too fast for the intersection. Red light =Stop. Green Light= Go. Yellow Light = Go Real Fast.

26-year-old Priscilla Anne Alves of Silver Spring later died at a local hospital. She was riding a 2015 Honda CBR 300 R... The traffic lights had already turned green for the video witness as she entered the intersection at about 60 mph.

It's so sad and angry to read this...

60 Mph!! That means to play russian roulette!!

It's madness anyway in the traffic, not only on an intersection!

Nobody thinks that something is so easy like who is totally unable to do it.

About 60 mph is my estimate from what it looks like in the video... Although I don't know which gear she was in, there was slight engine braking as she entered the screen.

What a way to go,thats sad.We have a steady stream of young motorcycle organ donors in Vancouver probably like everywhere.Every day at least one motorcycle crash..When you are young youre impervious till your first spill.I had one in my twenties that wasn't my fault and had to lay the bike down and slide at speed to avoid a collision. If you survive you learn your lesson, especially with road rash..I ride bicycle and electric cycle as well, that will really keep you on your toes in the city! And I forgot to check the light, yea, she ran a late yellow. When I got back into motorcycling after 25 years I was loving the way I could make lights with a Versys 650 acceleration.Thought about it and shut it down, thats whats can happen when you commit at a speed that gives you no way out. Sorry Chucksklrst, speeding up at a yellow is exactly what she was doing.

I know that, as I pointed that out with my statement.

Happens all the time around here. People run the yellow lights and then continue to run the red lights. One needs to be extra careful when crossing intersection, as the green light does not mean all is OK to go.

I had a medical appointment this AM, and I was in my car. I stopped at a yellow on BC 97 (goes right thru the middle of Kelowna, so there are MANY trucks...), only to watch two vehicles accelerating into the 'yellow' as it changed to RED), and one was a semi w/ a 40' trailer...!

Speed, generically, is a big problem here in California. Not that I am immune, either. I've done my fair share, and still get the itch from time to time.

I got passed by a girl yesterday on my way to work. I backed out at 95 mph trying to keep up with her CBR, but she was far more willing to take chances lane splitting than I am.

Read that twice if you need to.

God rest her soul. supposedly, a cager turning left in front of a biker is the classic way to die riding. always watch those intersections and prepare for evasive action. but man, she looked like she was flying, riding much too fast.
