My invention- Shrinkable Sofa

How many times you have somebody sleeping at your place over night?
How many times you have guests that need more seats?

Starting from this, I realized that we have a lot of Sofa Beds, but nothing that can offer more seating places (comfortable, not foldable ones) and you cannot have your guests sit on a bed.

So I invented a new Function for furniture, a Shrinkable Sofa / Expandable Chair.

here are 2 videos that show how this Function works:

A sofa that you can configure from 3 places to a 2 places Love Seat, or an Armchair. You can use this Sofa in any configuration like a normal furniture, everything is stored inside

A chair for dining room (my first prototype) that can go from 1 place... to 5.

Enjoy!

Thanks!

This is a prototype I made in my garage (the first one in my life )
My idea is the function of having a configurable furniture that you can use in any configuration, and has everything stored inside.

You can have it with arms or without, 1 to 3 places or 1 to 2 places with thicker cushions for comfort, 2 to 4 places, etc...

You can have dining room chairs, balcony, waiting rooms.....

I wish... but I cannot reach them...
Usually you need to have a production started, to have sales.
I don't have money, time, connections, experience, sales...
I need a company to collaborate and to bring this idea to the market..

I have an International Utility Patent Pending....

I'm just thinking at all the people that live in small apartments, in cities, and they lose a lot of space because they need a sofa.... for 10-15 times a year they have guests...

Brilliant! Especially for small apartments. I would contact furniture makers to see if they would like to license your design. Lot's of large scale furniture manufacturers here in Canada due to availability of materials.

Thanks!

I tried to contact them, a lot don't answer, some are not interested.
I did manage to work with a few companies, we did some prototypes and it looks good, but it stopped before starting, the big retailer chains don't want to order because they don't know if is going to sell.
It's a totally new product on the market and they don't know where to put it.

I have another feeling too: they are afraid that if they sell this, they will lose to other stuff that brings them money: instead of buying 2 pieces of furniture, you would buy just one.

But I'm still pushing, I just need somebody to see the potential and be a little bit brave

I hope to have a Facebook and Instagram page soon, maybe it will increase the visibility.

If you have any question, don't hesitate!

Remember us when you are rich and famous.

Great idea. I could have used one a month ago before I bought a giant ass couch that never gets used but takes up half a room.

Thanks!

This is the perfect statement and exactly why I invented this: I don't need a huge couch to take up the space 95% of time, for 5% when I have some guests.

But you'd be surprised to see how difficult is to bring a product to the market, especially on furniture industry. They are so closed and don't want to risk anything.

I looked everywhere and I made some progress, but I need that company that can see the potential of this idea and work together to finalize it.

Even more, this is a Function, as you see in the videos it can be applied to different designs to save space but still have that seating positions ONLY when you need it, just like an expandable table... or reclining function...

Here is a new 30 sec video that shows how easy it is to use this idea and "shrink" the sofa
into a loveseat or an armchair to have your space back, or the places to sit when YOU want

Thanks guys!

I tried with different Canadian companies, even made some interesting prototypes, but stopped short of bring it to the market.
I'm working on a Facebook page right now, where more details will come, photos and videos, with advantages:

https://www.facebook.com/Shrinkable-Sofa/

Hopefully a furniture company will get interested in this idea if it becomes more visible.

thanks Joseph for posting the YouTube link

It's been a while since I didn't post anything about this, I just launched a Kickstarter Campaign, here is the link:

Shrinkable Sofa-resize your furniture, regain your SPACE

I hope it gets more attention and I can find an interested manufacturer.
