my new job-lasted less than a day

So after landing my new job as a Wal-Mart greeter, a good find for many retirees, I lasted less than a day

About two hours into my first day on the job a very loud, unattractive, mean looking woman walked into the store with her two kids, yelling obscenities at them all the way through the entrance. I said pleasantly "Good morning and welcome to Wal-Mart. Nice children you have there. Are they twins?"

The ugly woman stopped yelling long enough to say "Hell no, they ain't twins. The oldest one's 9, and the other ones 7. Why the hell would you think they're twins Are you blind, or stupid?"

So I replied, "I'm neither blind nor stupid, Ma'am. I just can't believe someone f_cked you twice. Have a good day and thank you for shopping at Wal-Mart."

My supervisor said I probably wasn't cut out for this line of work.

Wait a minute. What do ya mean by that?

And short story I did that job for Target 25 years ago while I went back to school.
Other than money and self image it was a cool job. The scenery was outstanding,
dating and hanging out with all the cute young checkers was nice too.

As a former short time walmart employee myself, (seriously) I can see this scenario playing out in my mind all too vividly. Sooooo many times I wished I could have said something along those lines! Thanks for a GREAT laugh!!!!!!!

That's a prime candidate for my "wish I could have said that" file.

Reminds me of an instance some time ago I witnessed in a local mall. The same sort of woman was screaming at her young child to stop crying while whacking him on the head with a large lump of keys!

Mall police took a dim view of the action and hauled her away, hopefully to whack her on the head with her own keys a few times .
