US out of Iraq by years end

BAGHDAD (AP)
The U.S. is abandoning plans to keep U.S. troops in Iraq past a year-end withdrawal deadline,
The Associated Press has learned.
The decision to pull out fully by January will effectively end more than eight years of U.S. involvement in the Iraq war,
despite ongoing concerns about its security forces and the potential for instability.

The Iraq War Will Cost Us $3 Trillion, and Much More

There is no such thing as a free lunch, and there is no such thing as a free war.

The Iraq adventure has seriously weakened the U.S. economy,

whose woes now go far beyond loose mortgage lending.
You can't spend $3 trillion -- yes, $3 trillion -- on a failed war abroad and not feel the pain at home.

Deaths
combat 3,542
other 935
total 4,477
wounded 31,965
total dead & wounded 36,395
Missing 2

If it really happens that the US leaves Iraq, we'll get to really see that it was not worth it to go in the first place.
If you had any doubts!

President Barack Obama announced on Friday a nearly complete withdrawal of American military forces from Iraq by the end of the year.

"Today, I can report that as promised, the rest of our troops in Iraq will come home from Iraq at the end of this year," Obama said. "After nine years, America's war in Iraq will be over. Over the next two months our troops in Iraq--tens of thousands of them--will pack up their gear and board convoys for the journey home."

It's hard to rejoice... long overdue, unjustly initiated...

It will be wonderful for the families of the returning troops, who bravely went about their duties.

IMHO the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars are politicians wars, just as Viet Nam was. Apparently politicians are not students of history.

What a terrible waste of American blood and treasure.

I salute all of our troops who have served, are serving, and have given the ultimate sacrifice.

This event should be entitled:

U.S.A. Capitulates to Iran ~ Surrenders Iraq!
(or How to Snatch Defeat from the Jaws of Victory!)

What a damned shame!

All the sacrifice... All the lives, limbs and treasure... All the time & moments lost between loved ones... All for NOTHING!

There are Soldiers, Sailors, Marines & Airmen who will weep over this!

And make no mistake about it. This loss WILL eventually come back to haunt the US – and rest of the world as well!

Yeah, if we leave prematurely – it WILL all fall apart!

And I’m sure that that will make you very happy indeed, just so you and the rest of the Left can say, `I told you so’.

Disgusted

Agreed....all those men and women of the Armed Forces will have died in vain when another despot takes over, ruins the lives of those living there, and threatens America, again.

It doesn’t take a mystic to see what’s happening in the Middle East and where it’s heading... if one just looks at the facts as they are — and not through an ideological prism of how they want them to be. Obama is using a TicTacToe strategy in a (most deadly) game against Iran – the people who invented chess!

And it doesn’t require a crystal ball to see into the future... when examining the past will do. Viet Nam was another war that our military won on the ground – in the rice paddies of Nam – but which was lost on the streets of San Francisco. Tet was a devastating defeat for the NVA & VC and could have been the tipping point... but the Left twisted into something it wasn’t – virtually dancing on the graves of our fallen – and turned that victory into a defeat... and then, after we had abandoned our allies – our brothers in arms – and millions were slaughtered and starved to death..., the Jane Fonda Leftists sneered and blamed us for being there in the first place!

And still they admit no guilt, they have no shame. They make me want to puke!

Who is the “they” that you speak of? Al-Sadr certainly wants us to leave – so that he and his Iranian backed Shiites can take over – but the American soldiers tell a different story, of the Iraq people who are begging us to stay & protect them from what they know is coming!

The fact is, even al-Maliki wanted us to stay... until he saw that the Obama administration was intent on abandoning them...

As U.S.-Iraq troop talks faltered, Obama didn't pick up the phone
He and vice-president Biden went nearly a year without contacting Iraqi prime minister, U.S. Embassy logs reveal

"Iraqi Freedom" Right ?

U.S. Troops Are Leaving Because Iraq Doesn't Want Them There
President Obama the U.S. Commander and Chief, announced that he had kept a campaign promise by ending the war -- but he didn't have much of a choice

President Obama's speech formally declaring that the last 43,000 U.S. troops will leave Iraq by the end of the year
was designed to mask an unpleasant truth:

The troops aren't being withdrawn because the U.S. wants them out.

They're leaving because the Iraqi government refused to let them stay.
.
Hey you Ameraconsky's you ready for Democracy in the Mid-East?
.
I didn't think so.

I am glad to see the troops coming home, but saying that all troops will be removed from Iraq is just a campaign stunt. the president already said we will be sending troops back to work with iraq forces and train them.

The Growing influence of Iran since the fall of Saddam Hussein

Leslie Stahl interviews General Odierno as he almost admits that the war in Iraq was a waste and that we made it easy for Iran to take over!
