Today, I hit a bug on my face shield that was so big that my wife heard the impact over our Scala Rider Q2 intercom at 65 mph. Yuk! We went on the central valley blossom trail ride. Lots of big flying bugs.

Did you hit the bug, or is it the bug that hit you?

hmmm... now that you mention it, Iím not sure...

I was doing about 60 MPH and the bug appeared to be flying away from me at about 3 MPH at a 45į angle off but I was headed East, so taking into account the speed of the rotation of the Earth... but then thereís the Earthís orbital speed...

Letís just say that the bug & I attempted to occupy the same space at the same time (and despite any theories on quantum physics) the bug lost!

It's not a bug, it's a feature.

This isn't my helmet but mine looked the same after a 3 hour ride monday night. Michigan is about the same latitude?

You could start a whole new thread on pics of messed up lids and bikes.

Glad your getting back to some ride time up north. It looked pretty bad for you guys from my nice warm lounge chair down south.

Don't remember hitting any substantial bugs recently, though every time I look into the mirror I see the 1/2 inch scar left by a three pound June bug many, many years ago - before the age full face helmets.

Come to think of it, I also remember the day a large bee managed to fly up behind the chin bar of my full-face and lodge itself in my beard.

Neither of us was very happy about that event - it stung me on the chin and I, in return for the favor, summarily sent it into the next world.

Don't you just love flying insects?
