Criminal Alert!

This is a rant and a warning. I am and have been a customer of Tiger Direct, www.tigerdirect.com and I like them. I have gotten some great deals from them. BUT, this is a warning I am putting on every forum I visit. TD sells a product called TechForward Guaranteed Buy Back Program.
These people are utter criminals. I paid $19.98 for the program on 12-13-09 and never received any email, snail mail, or any other conformation that I actually bought something.

Flash forward to today. My son's Gateway NV52 refurb computer's display died. I call TechForward to get something for the laptop, which is supposed to be 30% off of a new device. Instead, I woudl in fact get, after two to three weeks, get 25% of some arbitrary salvage value.

Now here is the criminal part. IF I was stupid enough to send my laptop to the crooks, and I didn't like the money they were offering, I WOULD NEVER GET MY LAPTOP BACK! I confirmed this with a Supervisor. They are absolute thieves. DO NOT BUY THIS PROGRAM!!!

I am pissed off right now, but I am not exaggerating anything, this is all confirmed, their phone number is 877-623-5681 and you can call to confirm this if you want.

I have told Tiger Direct and Systemax, their parent company about this and I am filing a complaint with the California Attorney General.

FYI, TigerDirect bought CircuitCity's name a while back when they filed for bankruptcy and is now doing business under that name also. BestBuy and many others have scam programs designed to get more money out of the customer but without actually giving added assistance or benefits. Is it any wonder just why so many computers and laptops are available on eBay and craigslist?

There are 3 things that burn my butt about the PC industry:
1 - The load of "crapware" that is factory installed on new computers.
2 - Rebates. Hate 'em. It's almost a scam, but not quite!
3 - Extended warranties. BIG scam!

There are about 4 online companies that I have used for years with not problems. My mother bought a Systemax from Tiger many years ago. It was supposed to have an AMD Thunderbird processor. I opened it up some time later (after the return policy) to find an AMD Slot A Athlon. I've never been back to them since.

Don't ever take your computer if it's an Apple back to Best Buy. Their geek squad is full of phonies that don't know the first thing about computers. Apple won't even hire them if they see Geek Squad on the application. Apple knows what a bunch of morons they ALL are.
And Best Buy as a corporation isn't much better.

Heard once that BestBuy will hire the people that McDonald's won't. Probably not true but LOL !

Being a IT person myself, I consider no self-respecting computer person would work for the Geek Squad. How insulting... They certainly could've come up with a better name than that.

I tell all my clients that BestBuy is really a bad buy. Their whole corporate model is based on the gullibility of the public.

I don't know how many people have come and told me that the Geek Squad charged them a $69 bench fee to tell them their motherboard was bad and then swiftly escorted them to the isle where the new computers are. They smelled a rat and brought the unit to me and all I had to do is remove a virus, give it back to them and charge 'em $25 for my time.

Honesty, ethics, and morals are unfortunately a thing of the past.

AT&T has a support co called ConnectTech, they are terrible to work with. Not worth the 159.00 they charge!

A close friend of mine quit after one day of part time work for BestBuy because he couldn't lie to people about warranties, and what may or may not be in stock. He just walked out.

Rebates are a scam, I've been ripped off numerous times.

Big business is in it for profit, the bottom line.
Only needing to be accountable(to shareholders)
Not responsible in any ethical way to their customers.
If they operate within the law they are not criminals.
Increasing profit at the expense of the customer....hmmm.
BUYER BEWARE!

Not as many mom and pop operations around as there used to be,
shame!

Thanks for the heads up, buying insurance for something we should be able to assume is built in...quality. Suckers bet!
