High Octane Camp Stove

Can anyone reccomend a small, portable, and relatively cheap camp stove that will burn the same premium fuel that we put in our Versys? I've looked over dozens of threads about alcohol stoves, kerosene, etc. I know MSR has a model that will use Gasoline but I wanted to see if anyone else had any experience with other stoves.

Thanks in advance,
Chuck

I have had one of these for a few years works great with Coleman white gas or regular gasoline. Compact enough for motorcycle travel. Best of all cheap and reliable! I bought mine at Walmart a few years ago for about $30

I made a soda can stove that can run on denatured alcohol or high alcohol liqour. All you need is a couple empty soda cans.

/thread.

this is the best multi fuel stove you can get. the msr dragonfly is OK too but the whisperlite gets my preference.

plus, you can get a few of those bottles and use them as bike fuel reserve since they're pretty much standard shape. nice dual purpose containers.

I have a Whisperlite (mine burns only white gas, but there's almost no difference between mine and the above-linked stove) that I've used since 1994 or so. It comes with spare parts and the tools to fix it. I agree with indulf; the MSR Whisperlite International is the stove to get, no need to consider anything else.

Thanks guys,
Does the whisperlite come with the fuel pump or is that something that I will need to purchase separately?

Look at the picture again. The pump is that round, silvery knob on the right.

Just to give one more prop to the Coleman stove...it will run off the same fuel in your tank. No need for extra fuel bottles..

Indulf, when you look at the picture of the Whisperlite on the Amazon.com page, the fuel pump is that flat red knob at the end of the fuel bottle.

that's correct, the red knob on the end of the bottle has a plunger that you push/pull. comes with the stove.

There is Brunton as well, it's all fuel the one I found right now is a bit newer model than what I have but I have been very satisfied with mine. It may be a bit pricey but it works well.

Good luck choosing.

P.S. I bought my Versys to support my photography hobby.
