All the best to your all for 2011

Will finish my last night shift 7am new years eve and after a bit of sleep will take off on bike to a place called Waihaorunga, My wife will take our truck and float her horse there for a trek over high country land. We will first all meet up at a house and celebrate new years eve at the farmstead then the horse people will trek in for a 3 day ride and non horse people will 4 wheel drive in, i will just head back home on new years day on the mighty v.

Here is a couple of pics of where we are going taking a few years ago.

First shot i took while getting up early one day on a hunt for rabbits, this looks back to where were staying in a old farm house.

me and my youngest out on my wife's TS 125 going looking for wallabies and rabbits

Last one of my wife on one riding her horse in the hills which is the same spot I took my pic why they all slept at camp.

So a toast to you all and have a safe new year and don't over do it.

Phil

Happy New Year Phil. Looks like a nice place to ride. Right now anyplace without snow looks good to us!

Riding the New Year in. Great way to end the year, and begin a New Year. Have fun and wishing you (and everyone else) a great New Year.

Warm down south for New Years, and after my extended visit in Virginia snow at Christmas, we will be riding all weekend.

Happy New Year to you Phil, and all the others here at KV.com
By the way great photos.

Time alone with ones thoughts, is quality time.

They say there is a lack of jobs. Seems here to be more a lack of people willing to work hard, and take pride in the work they do.

I grew up on a ranch riding horses. Love 'em, They're affectionate like big dogs. The main problem with them is that they burn fuel even when they're parked.

Happy New Year to all!!!!

About the horses bit...emmmffff! My folks and siblings love horses, love to ride, etc. Almost all of them currently own horses and maintain them and I thank my lucky stars that I don't have to do that stuff anymore! Now don't get me wrong, it is very soothing to go out on a trail ride with a horse, it's exciting when you are jumping them, and there is a lot of fun to be had there. Though, I get just as much of a thrill from doing the same on a motorcycle. I guess all the years of being the only boy in the house and always being the one who had to do the cleanup and feeding of the horses put a fowl taste in my mouth...oh well, that is what I have a motorcycle for now. Matter of fact, that will be my New Years Resolution...to never think about maintaining horses again.

Here is some shots where we were new years eve, as I said before my wife was taking her horse in for a 3 day trek into high country and i just went to the starting point at the farm house and stayed there new years eve and rode back home on new years day.

Due to the windy roads i would give the versy a good wind out and the wait for my lovely wife to catch up in the truck. It was not the best of days as overcast a light rain fell just before we got there but not to bad.

Just one shot of party last night and you will notice my fine bottle of NZ red on table.

Keri and myself stayed on stretchers in a spare lounge in house and this is a shot taken out from the porch.

Next couple of shots is a week out from a massive fire in region due to very hot and dry conditions around the Waimate gorge area.

All in all I had a great time as most of the people are great folk and the roads to get there are narrow and very twisty and heard smoe of the people who floated there horse in complaining about the road but not this cowboy as it was very fun. Just back at home now thinking about putting on a movie later, nice glass of red, chips n dip and put the feet up.
