The good, the bad, the ugly

The good
after more than 25 years of lawsuits by environmental groups blocking a replacement bridge to the Outer Banks of N.C. (to Hatteras island) new bridge construction is well under way.
the bad
While driving support pilings for the bridge, the main power trunk to the island was severed. We are under power and water conservation mandates because the 5 2megawatt portable generators cannot support the normal load. Tourist evacuations began this morning. Those of us remaining will deal with rolling blackouts, enough to keep the refrigerator cold (yes, there is beer)
the ugly
All those string bikini darlins' walking the doggy are gone.....oh and restaurants are closed, the tourist based economy will take a hit....but those string....well....

Update

Power was re-established this afternoon after a truly heroic effort by power companies from surrounding areas. Those doggie walking darlins' shall return..... and the economy will be better also.

Love OBX; we usually go every couple of years to either Avon or Hatteras Village. Is this the bridge across Oregon Inlet?

Yes. the new bridge is really coming along, much taller than the old one Avon is a sweet place to live...until hurricanes join us... or power outages...

sigh......life in paradise. Latest track "suggests" South Carolina may take the punch, but you really don't know before the last 48 hours. Does anyone sell waterwings for the Versys?
Thanks for the thought fasteddie.
