Track Day at Road Atlanta

This was my third track day, first time on Road Atlanta (on a bike) and first time in intermediate. The weather was perfect! The liter bikes were fast! I was on my GSX-R600.

Steve

I bought a motorcycle because my wife said that I couldn't! Now I have two and she still says I can't have another one!

Enjoyed your vids...you handle that GSXR very well. That'd be faster than I'd want to go. Thanks for the post!

Thanks, I like going fast, but I prefer doing it on the track. I find that I ride the Versys at a little slower pace most of the time now.

What is it Kevin Shwantz said? "wait till you see God, then brake!"

Nice video. Maybe I'll see you at the track some time next year. =)

Steve,

Thanks for the videos. I'd LOVE to do a track day but, for now, I'll live vicariously through you.

By the way, what's your setup for video and audio recording? That's some of the cleanest audio I've heard from a track camera.

GoPro HD at 720p/60fps. The higher frame rate makes it really smooth. You can do 1080p, but it is 30 fps. If the weather is agreeable, I hope to do another track day this year.

Hi Steve, have you ever put the versys on the track as it can be a huge amount of fun in my experience of a very tight depending technical track

Nope. It is my daily ride and I don't want to track it. I have plenty of fun on it in the twisties north of Atlanta.

I actually had the opposite problem...I needed to shift into 2nd and 3rd in a few of the corners. Guess I need to regear it for faster tracks, too. The 750s and 1000s were just blowing me away. They were pushing 170-180 on the back straight compared to my 130-140.

This was my 3rd track day and 3rd time on the bike. Next year should be a lot of fun.

Check these out. These two were fast.

If i could would have more than one bike (bit enviuos of you)but putting my funds towards traveling the world. Just that i have had a lot of fun giving the sports bikes a run for their money in the tight twisty sections but not much fun being passed by bikes doing 250km/hr plus on back straight. It is fun having people come up after a session and ask what the hell is that wee thing.

My kids are grown and the wife has a good job, so I get to do most of the things I want right now. We were down your way in 2007 and had a great time. Beautiful country you live in!

I also have fun running down sport bikes in the really twisty stuff and I am not that fast. The V is just great on tight technical roads!

We sort of heading that way Steve, if my youngest gets in the navy as he has a interview next week and could be on a navy in take early next year then we will have no kids and good jobs so would like to travel more so home to the continent of America and check out the weird and the wonderful and may even see what a bears on bikes looks like lol.

Thanks Steve NZ is a awesome place to live and ride, the roads are better to ride on a v than super sports bikes in my opinion and can be dangerous at speed especially some parts of west coast south island

Good going, 3rd trackday etc. Overtaking looks worse than it its, everything comes and goes much quicker with a wide angle. nothing like real life.
