Turkeys can fly! Sorta..

Of course when I saw this I shuddered and imagined this happening to a biker.

Turkeys can fly too well............last fall a gent in front of me hit one and it came flopping over the top of his vehicle towards me. I started manuevering to avoid it and it promptly took off flying again. Tough birds...........

I had to wait on traffic on a busy road is a crowded suburb of Detroit yesterday whilst 3 turkeys tried to make up their mind on crossing the street. On old joke comes to mind, but I'll save you the misery.

When we used to visit up in Northern Michigan every summer, we would often find 10+ turkeys perched up in the trees and on fences in the morning. And if you see one on the side of the road, they are like pheasant; once they start to fly, you can't tell what direction they will turn.

Yeah I think most people don't realize how well they fly. They actually roost 15-20ft up in trees and they don't climb up there
