Grey Cup

Questions:
National origin/citizenship rules don't apply to quarterbacks?
More generic, isn't it weird that places like Toronto, Green Bay and Buffalo play outdoors while Houston, New Orleans & Vancouver play indoors?
Calgary stampede critters make sense to me but what is the back story to RedBlack?

I can't tell you anything about the rules for players and national origin/etc. The name of the RedBlacks can be found at

Ottawa RedBlacks president Jeff Hunt writes why the name was chosen for the CFL

Fantastic game! Fast paced, exciting, down to the wire, great football. Bravo for Henry Burris, who while he could not use his trademark rushing due to injury, made up for it with his arm. Calgary did dominate the better part of the second half and made it a very exciting end game.

As an Ottawa resident think I can answer this. Ottawa had a CFL team for many, many years called the Rough Riders. Two teams in CFL called rough riders???? Ottawa Rough Riders finally went bankrupt. Reformed the Red Blacks a few years back to play at same stadium. Henry Burris is a local hero in this city.

Seems US supplies most of the good CFL players while Canada supplies majority of NHL players. The reason, hockey is played everywhere here at all recreational levels, by both girls and boys, but football not so much.

I watched the game instead of the NFL offering since I had no dog in either hunt, but I have to say that was a really good contest. Calgary could've rolled over and played dead but really made a game of it in the second half. Lots of big hits but also lots of turnovers. The helmet to helmet tackle in the second half was a bit concerning. I hope both players were okay.

They will play a soccer playoff match in the same stadium in a couple of days. That will be a ground crew nightmare but the grass seemed to hold up well. Congrats to the Ottawa RedBlacks.
