Question What's the strangest delicacy you like to eat?

& b4 anyone starts slamming me, this is the OFF TOPIC forum!!!

In England in the 50's we were still suffering the consequences of WWII to some extent, so offal (animals innards) were still widely on sale, ie; heart/liver/kidneys/tripe & even lung!!!
Also on sale were the less desirable outer parts of the animals like feet/ears/tails/tongue & gonads!!!

Also black pudding is still regarded as a delicacy in the UK & parts of Europe, & they have competitions for who can produce the best black (blood) pudding! (it's an intestine filled with pigs blood & fat!)
Anyway, when l was shopping in Wallies of all places l came across cooked & pickled pig's feet, & even though l wouldn't usually go for the pickled variety, they were still a treat to me!!!

How about spotted dick? One of my riding/mechanic buddys is originally from Manchester. When his mum comes to visit she brings him a few cans. Always a big laugh till people realize that it is a real food. Pretty good stuff, reminds me of bread pudding, sort of.

She is lucky to get that through the totally anal USA customs!!!
Those idiots still ban British meat because of mad cow disease that has been eradicated for over 25yrs yet it has been found in cattle in Canada & the USA!!!

Spotted dick is basically a sponge/suet with raisins/currants in it, hence the raisins being the "spotted" bit!!!
It also HAS to be served with custard or the food police will arrest you in the UK!!!!

I've mellowed over the years but right now nothing spectacular:
- canned sardines with hot sauce on saltines
- beets, picketed and roasted

Kind of boring right now

I know there are some other folks on here from Asia, but on a trip to China with our Adopted Daughter to visit her homeland in the mountainous regions of China last year, My wife encountered folks partially skinning live animals and letting them run tied up in the street to show the freshness.. Oh and Big spiders for some reason, weird food, no she didnt eat it so guess that doesnt count.
