Cheap Impulse Buy Item Saves The Day

Last thing i had to switch out this morning was taking off the Keyless Gas Cap and putting the Stock Cap back on the FJR. Seen the screws in place so i sat the stock cap into place well it didn't want to fit so i moved it around and heard something metal to metal clink. So i pull up the cap assembly and there was a bolt laying on top of the metal surrounding the gas filler hole. one big hole and several small holes all big enough for it to fall through. So i grabbed a small set of needle nose vice grips and just as i touched it the bolt shifted then fell into the gas tank. So i'm like oh now just F-Me. Then i remembered when i was in harbour freight about 2 years ago i was checking out and noticed one of those extendable wands with a magnet on the end so i said to my self hey that might come in handy some day....Well today was the day stuck the end in the gas tank and about 30 seconds of fishing i hear a clink. Pulled it right out. I don't know what i paid for that thing that day but today i would have given a 100 bucks for it.

Make sure you polish that thing and find it a nice place in your tool box...

I have one of those!.

Too bad you didn't remember it before you knocked it in.

I also have one of those harbor freight vibrating saws. I remembered it after cutting through some plastic with a razor knife.

Ditto. Without it, my bikes would probably be missing half their fasteners. For some reason, they are gravitationally attracted to the darkest, most recessed areas within the Tupperware.

Those telescopic magnetic sticky things have saved me a significant number of hardware replacement shopping trips. Must have in every garage!

When I 'do' my valves, I use one to pull the buckets off where I need to change size, and it nicely 'captures' the shim TOO!
