Well he was honest enough to own up to his mistake. Not a good candidate for a police officer though. If your going to carry a gun you need to have more self control.

Officer was found guilty the other day of attempted murder in recent Toronto trial resulting from police shooting on a street car. Officer shot a schizophrenic teen with a knife in an empty street car, 5 times, then shot him 5 times more when he was down. No one is sure why it was attempted murder as he died. No one was in danger and he had lots of backup to take the suspect down. Could have easily tased the suspect. Unfortunately for the officer involved the incident was caught from many camera angles. Cameras seem to be catching a few of those few officers who use excessive force. Makes you wonder though how many of these type of events have occurred in the past and been covered up though.

I don't have a problem with them wasting a crazy person. They need to kill a lot more if you ask me...

The officer shot the subject 3 times which knocked him down. The second volley was 6 rounds, five of which hit. The jury was satisfied with the officer's actions in firing the first 3 rounds to stop the threat posed by a subject armed with a knife and not complying with commands. That was the source of the 2nd degree murder charge for which he was found not guilty. The attempt murder charge stemmed from the second set of shots, fired 5.5 seconds later. As for the use of a Taser, there was not one on scene yet, front line officers in Ontario were not authorized to carry Tasers at the time. Even if there had been a Taser, it is not the appropriate option for an armed subject and would only be used as part of a combination of force which would have still included the deadly force of a firearm.

Exclamation

Now I learn that the schizo teen also had his sexual organ out in his other hand, beside the knife in his right hand with which he swung at ladies at the back of the bus... Hmm He dies at the open bus door, while your American dies in his sunroof. What a coincidence.

After seeing the long version videos....I ink the cop blew it on this one.
If that happened here & the dead guy was from a different group I wouldn't be able to go to work until the looting stopped.

That's why I buy guns with good old fashioned thumb safeties. They don't take a microsecond to click off, but they prevent this kinda crap. Made me feel a little bad for the cop.
