Welcome, where are you located?

As far as sooping it up, my advise is to save your money and ride more! Soop-up the rider. You'll only get a few horsepower from an exhaust with a bunch of extra noise. Brakes are one area where a nice set of pads would help. I'd rate the stock brakes about a 2 or 3 on a scale of 1 to 10. Also IMHO, premium tires are a good investment.

Discs are about the last thing I'd upgrade regarding the Versys braking system. I'd upgrade in this order and stop when you're happy with the stopping power...
  1. Brake Pads - This will make the biggest difference!
  2. Brake Lines - Firmer feel at the lever
  3. Master Cylinder - This makes a big difference, but good ones are expensive
  4. Brake Rotors - Try other brands (I doubt most would get here except on a race bike)
  5. Calipers - You're really going all out here Mr. Rossi!

Nothing yet. Since the front suspension has lots of travel and soft springs, a brake pad with too much initial bit could lock the wheel before it has a chance to load up.

I'm partial to Vesrah, and I think they make the RJL compound for the Ninja 650, so I'm going to try that. I'm cheap, so I'll wait until I go through these brake pads.

My Gixxer 1000 with Vesrah SRJL pads and a Brembo radial master cylinder has too much bite. I have to be very gentle or it will lock and put me on my a$$. Yes, you can have brakes that are too strong.
