2008 Versys (new to me)

Just got the bike last Friday as my first ever motorcycle. Have my permit and just waiting to do my road test and get my license. All I've managed to do is ride around in circles in my back yard but the bike seems very stable. Despite being a 2008 it only has 14,000 kms on it and is in immaculate shape. Quite happy with the purchase.

Now the only challenge is waiting until I put a bunch of time on the seat before I get stupid about accessories.

You'll enjoy the bike even more when you can do more than
ride in circles.

Congrats on the new bike. The 1st mods I'd be doing is SW-Motech engine bars and BarkBusters. Everything else is optional.

Yep, that's the first two things I'm looking at.

Yea, doing circles is probably the best practice ever... Everytime i get a new -always used- bike, i go to a parking lot and do circles.

Alternate clockwise and counterclockwise because they are completely different feeling. Then master figure 8's.

Definitely get crashbars if nothing else, especially as a new rider. They pay for themselves after the first mistake, plus i think they look cool on the Versys.

Welcome, and good luck. Lots on nice people here, not your typical Harley or Sportbike crowd.

Been riding 8 or 9 years, and have owned 8 or 9 bikes; its an addiction I can't quit...

Had my first good run on the bike today. Did about 3.5 hours out some side roads and then back along some main roads. I have to say the comfort was great and the bike ran very smooth. I'm very happy with the bike and it easily passed all my expectations.

After the first ride I have to say that my first purchase is probably going to be a new windshield. The stock one is useless at higher speeds.
