Thinking about getting a Versys 650

I really like the 2015 redesign, so far have only sat on the bike at the bike show last winter and in the showroom this spring.

Currently riding a BMW F800GT. Thinking about switching due to cost of maintenance and insurance.

I should have mentioned I am in Canada, and one thing holding me back is the colour selection here. It seems the rest of the world gets that nice Pearl White colour, we are stuck with kawi green (blech, sorry fans) and black (zzzzz).

Any chance Kawi will bring the Pearl White to Canada for 2016???

Welcome...but, Kawi Green is the only real color...the others? They work but they are not green...

Believe you'll be pleased with the V. It will certainly be less expensive to maintain and insure. Still, would you mind telling me/us about the BMW maintenance costs. I like the 800GT and was considering adding one to the fleet to keep my K75S company.

I think the black versys look stunning. Black with just the red schock and versys written in red

On Friday I did a 280 mile ride with my neighbor; I was on an 09 Versys in beautiful green, and he has a BMW F800 GT. The Versys did everything the Beemer did, as you would expect, with the only difference being I had to wax my chain at one pit stop, and his belt drive required no work. The last 60 miles or so were a straight run down I-87, abnd he may have been slightly better protected from the wind on the highway.
The BMW is a beautiful bike, but the Versys has required no work other than routine maintenance(admittedly, low miles for its age).
I can't help with the color problem as I love the 09 green.

Good luck with your decision.

Mike

F800GT can't be that old, just make some numbers and see how much you're going to lose in the depreciation of the F800GT and then the depreciation of a new Versys.I just don't see how you're going to save any money in that trade, although I'm aware that in Canada insurance is weird. But honestly, I've thought several times about getting a F800GT, it has better wind protection, gets awesome MPGs and forget about lubricating the chain.

FWIW - IF the 2015s in Canada had ONLY come in black - I would NOT have bought one - I want to be VISIBLE to the texting 'cage' drivers IF they EVER do look up...!
