Newbie from down south

Just wanted to say hello. The forum looks great. I am a Vesys fan. Fell in love with the Versys a year before they were available. My wife and I do a lot of weekend riding with a club we are involved in. Today is year number 6 for our fish fry. Normally we are out of town. We got to places like lynchburg,Bowling Green,Chatanooga, deals gap and last week was Helen Ga. We try to keep it to he back roads but we will open it up on slab. My wife rides her own bike and likes it that way. She rides better than 90% of the men in our group and 2 years ago we were appointed road captains in our group. I guess you could say we only work a job during the week so we can ride on the weekends.

Welcome and congrats on your choice! It looks like you are on your way with a nicely farkled V already!

I've never done the group ride thing except for something called the Ephrata run where anywhere from 25 to 100 sportbikes meet in Delaware and ride through Penn Dutch Country to Ephrata on the first Sunday of the Month in the Summer; it's was anarchy! What exactly does a road captain do (I'm being curious, not sarcastic)?

We have around 8 road captains in our club. Around 115 members. The captains normally post rides on the forum. last year my wife and I planned a ride to eureka springs. It was 6 days of 7 states and we had a group of 22 riders. That was a great trip. Hy. 7 is a must do. As captains we post mileage for the club, lead rides, help maintain web site and we get neat little patches that say road captains.
