Hello from Norway

Hey guys!

Just discovered this forum and joined up imediately.

I got my brand new Versys April 30th 2008 and paid a whooping 114.000kr for it. That most probably say nothing to any one else than Norwegians, but it equals $22800 US.
I read that one guy had got his Versys for just over $6000 over there
I paid 3.8 times more than that!
Norwegian taxes is the reason..

Heres a pic of it.
I havent done much with the bike yet, but I'm planning to put on a hugger and maybe do something with the flashlights/blinkers.

Hey Ace, welcome to the hangout that is picking up speed at quite a pace

dude I thought our import taxes in South Africa sucked. I thought I had just snuck in before the price increase on the V due to the current oil price fiasco world-wide... but alas ... I did not

The last black one was sold at the old price a week before I could finally organise everything, so now I'm waiting for my black V amongst the new stock.

Price went up from R64 500 to R69 995 (aah that mental games they play, no sir you are not paying R70 000, you are only paying R69 995... whatever, it's still 70k)

And incidentaly, 30th of April was when I started the wheels rolling to get my V, been anxious times ever since. If the shipping guys come through my V will be here tomorrow.

soz, off on a tangent again, welcome, enjoy the stay, loads of people here that seem to know what they are talking about

Thanks for the welcomes guys!

GL on getting your Versys Bob! You really got something to look forward to.
I love my Versys very much, its the most fun and comfy ride I've ever had, and I'm very happy that I picked the V amongst all the bikes i tested.

Strange thing tho is that I have not seen a single other V on the roads here yet and its good to have a place with other V enthusiasts

Hey Green!

Your Swedish? Thats cool!

75.000SEK is about 63.000NOK.. ****.. Thats cheap!
On the bill for the bike it was specified how much was for the bike and how much was for taxes - the amount for taxes was higher then the price for the bike.
With the insane tax policy we have in Norway there is no way out of the taxes if we want number plates on the bike.
Meaning that, no, I cant go across the border to Sweden and buy cheap and bring it here..

Sucks..

Welcome, that is one fine looking bike in black!

I read that because of plentiful natural resource rights in the Black Sea, Norway has the highest per-capita GDP in the world! I guess you need it to pay your taxes.

If the bike is that expensive, I wonder how much it costs to fill the tank.

I love that Black V, Ace! I'm thinking I'm going to have to paint mine black when I get the chance......and wondering if I can get the wheels powdercoated in black when I have to change tires next..... I hope you enjoy the site as much as I have, there is so much useful info from a great many qualified voices....
