2009 Versys SW MOTECH Crash Bar Install Question

Ok Let me start by saying that I am a brand new rider and I am posting this here because I can't post anywhere else yet. I have a 2009 Versys if that makes a difference with the install.
I have very little experince working on bikes or cars for that matter. I purchased the SW MOTECH crash bars and was hoping to install with the help of my father, who also has little experience. We finally deciphered the instructions which are awful but I do have a few questions. First can they be installed with the bike simply on the kickstand or do I need to get a rear and front stand? Next is it safe to remove the bolts without supporting the engine? Sorry for the lack of knowledge, like I said I am a brand new rider with little experience with working on bikes and I don't want to hurt my new baby. IS this something we can do or should I bring it to my mechanic?

My main question is with installing at point A in the digram.

Watch that you don't pinch the wiring bundle on the right side/lower bolt.
I seem to remember a couple members damaging them.
As long as you're removing the upper bolts, now would be a good time to shim the upper mount (a search would be in order to explain)

I SUGGEST that you put that LONG bolt in from the RIGHT side, as it makes the job MUCH easier!
