New 650 in Finland

Hi all!

Just test rode a 650 Versys and bought in on the spot. Getting it this week.

I was also considering the Yamaha MT-09 Tracer (FJ-09) but the price here in Finland is 14000 € (vs. Versys' 10000 €.) Couldn't justify the price difference.

Coming from a BMW S1000RR and S1000R this is something totally different. Commuting just got a lot more comfortable. Noticed that the Versys has quite a twitchy throttle in the 1st gear, but I'm sure I'll get used to it very quickly.

A wise BMW Shop owner once told me, "never return from a test ride with a ****-eating grin." They know they have you at that point. I hope you did your homework before the test ride.

I didn't test ride one until the owner was holding my money first. The more I learn about the bike, the more I like it.

Just keep your revs above 4k rpm and it will do fine. It has a midrange cam, so it loves 6 to 8k rpm. The engine will sound like its changing gears when the cam kicks in!

Yes, the engine vibrates a whole lot under 4k rpm, almost feels like stalling, but there's still a surprising amount of torque down low. Also did a couple of 60-100 km/h pulls with a gps and the real life acceleration is on par with a 100 hp Honda 600 Hornet I had back in the day. Not bad for a heavyish twin.
