New member/new bike....

Just picked up my new '09 Versys in blue yesterday. Found a lot of great information on this site to help make my decision. Was down to a V-strom and the Versys and found what I think is a great deal on an '09 so it made my decision easy given that I was leaning this way anyway since the Versys sounded more fun... I have the Kawasaki side cases on order and should have those in next week.

After putting on only 20 miles, I think the first thing I need to do is get a bigger windshield. I see a lot of discussion on this so any recommendations for someone 6' would be great.

Also, trying to decide if I should buy heated grips or handguards - any suggestions? I drive in Maine and NH so weather can be tricky.

also tossed up between vstrom and Versys and you have made the right call. I ride in some pretty cool conditions over here and do not have heated grips but barkbuster handguards and this keeps the cold air off my gloves and with the right gloves you will not get cold hands

I like my GIVI 405, does the job for me. I'm 5'11" and the Givi keeps the air flow reasonable, not too noisy. Nothing will make it a Goldwing, but its not supposed to be.

I have been using Mikes Touring Shield (the Demo shield) and it is a huge improvement! I like it so much that I did not want to put the stocker back on, so I have one on order. I am 6' tall and the wind just goes over the helmet with no buffeting and much reduced noise (Scorpion EXO 700 helmet). So far the shield is working well for me. Do a search on Mikes Shields or go to mikesshields.com. There is a list to get on to try out his touring model and see what you think. I currently have the demo shield and waiting to see who gets it next.
