Howdy from Las Vegas.

Greetings, all.

I'll be picking up my next bike, a 2009 Kawa Versys, this weekend; and, I am SO glad that I found this Forum in advance.

Being a tall riding geezer, I'll be looking to add some add-ons from the get-go so that I won't feel cramped during a long ride (6'4", 220 lbs. here).

And I already learned a lot from this Forum as to what those add-ons should be.

I have more than 30 years of riding under my belt. My last bike was a 1997 BMW 1100GS, and I took a hiatus from riding two years ago when I fractured my femur. Two titanium rods now remind me that I can't ride the way that I did then (long and hard).

Now that my daughter acquired her first street bike, I can't think of a better reason to get back in the saddle to make sure that she acquires good riding habits early (yes, she passed the MSF course with flying colors).

Thanks to y'all for having this incredibly informative oasis for Versys owners.

Happy trails!

Peter

Already have. Will be purchasing the peg lowering blocks pronto. Gotta decide on a replacement seat that will raise my butt too. And I'll be choosing an engine guard set-up, first, before addressing the highway pegs.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I've had about 7 seats on my 09. You should give the Seat Concepts a try. I liked the Hepco Becker Crash Bars.

Thank you for the welcomes, everyone.

I appreciate.

BTW, that's an interesting looking bike stand, weljo.

Who makes it?

TIA (thanks in advance).

I may be speaking out of turn for weljo but his rear stand looks like the Harbor Freight product. Some say it's flimsy but the one I have seems solid and does its job just fine.

Thanks, Arion. I'll make a note of that.

This is the first bike, in a long time, that I won't be able to lift onto its center stand ('cause it doesn't have one).

So bike stands are a new subject for me.

Gawd, how I'll miss raising a bike onto a center stand.

Yep its from Harbour Freight. I had 2 from them both are rear stands but the black one i have the attachments (that you can no longer get) to make it a front stand. I used those stands since 2010 never had an issue...

Engine guards for 1st gens seemed hard to come by when I was looking last year. Ended up with a set of H&B's, but it took a few weeks to get them. I was just looking at domestic suppliers though.

Install was easy and I think they will provide good protection (and a place to hang some LED lights). If you go with a thermobob setup, it is a little bit of a squeeze to work around the bars.
