From Arizona

I am interested in the 2015 650LT so decided to join this forum to see what others thought of the Versys.
After a couple of BMWs, a Goldwing, V-Strom 650, Victory Cross Country Tour I decided I was getting to old to ride. That lasted for a couple of months. Bought a Honda CTX700 but not really happy with it.
The LT seems ideal.

Welcome! A lot of us joined when there was only a 650 Versys that was kind of a no frills basic budget bike, kind of the Farmall Cub of motorcycles. There is plenty of motorcycle there to make it your own. But, today's Versys is a head and shoulders above the first model..its a good time to buy a Versys.

I'm afraid you'll only find negative reviews of the Versys in here...we all own one and know what a total pain in the ass and piece of junk these bikes are...go back to your BMWs..Goldwings..or that Victory thing...hopefully you are really tall or you'll never get you feet on the ground...they put that big tank on there because of the bad mileage...brakes..what brakes??

OH! Don't let my wife hear that. A 2014 CTX700 was what she wanted for Christmas and that's what she got. She has getting old knee problems so she likes the cruiser style riding position and at 63 she doesn't need or want blistering speed or peg scraping handling - just something comfortable that will cruise along with my venerable (and more fun) 2008 Versys. I like mine and she likes hers and the house is, as a result, a happy house.

Do I detect just the tiniest bit of sarcasm here? No, that couldn't possibly be the case, could it? The Versys is crap. That's why we've taken it upon ourselves to buy them and get them off the road and protect innocent riders.

The V is a great parts bike.

I always ride the V to the BMW dealer to pick up more solenoids, switches, rear drive bevel gears, main engine seals, fuel pump regulator diodes, USB replacement, steering head bearings, rear wheel bearings, rear wheel, and other "BMW known issue" parts that are neither defective or of poor design. I could go on but am afraid the bandwidth needs of this post may crash the internet across the western hemisphere.

Hey Arion...if it gets her out riding I think any bike is great! For the original poster I was really just trying to say that the Versys is a fun, all round bike to own.

Lovin every minute of it!

BMW seems to be the Harley of the late 80's early '90's. I remember a Harley owner confiding in me that his wife was 'getting tired of pushing'. I told him to BUY A HONDA. I was the service manager at that dealership and I rode a BMW. Those were strange times

90% of the Harleys are still on the road today. The other 10% made it home.

That's funny. When my daughter was young she used to call Harleys "Hardly Ferguson." I think she thought they were sort of tractors but not quite. Of course that was almost 40 years ago and we all know they've progressed a lot since then.

The April issue of Motorcyclist arrived today complete with a road test of the 2015 650LT. Their opinion is that it's "quietly magnificent." They also say "Kawasaki's comprehensive revision of the Versus has improved an already good, very capable machine." They rated it overall as an 8 out of a possible 10,where 8 represents a machine well above average and one they would be happy to own and to recommend to friends without hesitation.

I just might have to replace my 2008 with a new LT.

I did read the Motorcyclist road test. Sounded great.
I had sat on a 2015 650, not the LT though. Fits fine. Not as tall as my V-Strom or R1200RT.
Speaking of BMWs. Some apparently have had problems. I had over 80,000 miles on a K75 and the RT. Never a single glitch.
I would buy a new K75 in an instant in they made them.
