Greetings everyone!

Howdy everybody!

I curently ride a Suzuki C50T but am looking to trade in for a versys, hopefully this summer. I'm just starting my research early and seeing what others think, especially in comparison to the wee-strom.

I've tested an '09 Versys and loved it, but i'm probably looking at buying new, mainly due to ABS, or at least, the V2 (2010-2013) for the reduced vibration and styled headlight.

Thank's Guys! (And Gals)

First I need to see what kind of deal I can get from my dealership. I should get the best possible price since my dad just got his '13 goldwing from them not 9 months back.

I'm hoping to see around $4000-4500 for the stock '14 versys (with my C50T trade-in)

well, I took the plunge guys

I am no longer the owner of a 2005 Suzuki C50T

I am now the proud owner of a super fun 2014 Kawasaki Versys w/ ABS!

It's also a beautiful time of year here in north texas, despite the rain as dictated by murphy's law and the fact that I just got the bike two days ago. Nonetheless, here she is:

My last bike was a C50. Been riding the Versys since 2010 and still loving it! I also picked up a Honda Grom in August for kickin it around town. Enjoy your new ride! It is much easier and more fun to ride than the Suzuki.

I do plan on adding some aftermarket support, namely

Engine crash bars
Skid plate
barkbusters (or the OEM kawasaki hand guards)
windshield
and eventually luggage racks,

but right now the bike is mainly used for in-town and some highway commuting as I am still a student.

Welcome!. I think pretty much everyone who has bought a Versys has done the Versys/VStrom comparison as they are similar in some ways but but also very different.

I found the Versys to be a more fun/sporty ride on pavement in my comparison, with better suspension, but everyone has different criteria. Get as much seat time as you can on both bikes, under different conditions, as possible, and make up your own mind.

Both bikes are reliable and have a large availability of after market parts (windshields, seats, luggage, crash bars, pegs, GPS mounts, etc..) so can be heavily customized for your needs what ever they may be.

The Versys runs 120/70-17 front and 160/60-17 rear tires with suspension that is adjustable for preload and damping in the front as well as rear. It also has inverted forks up front. The VStrom has 110/80-19 and 150/70-17 tires with conventional forks and suspension is only adjustable for preload in the rear. The difference in tire sizes means the Versys has a lot more selection of available tires that fit it in the sport touring and sport category. The VStrom tire sizes mean there is more choice of available tires in the dual sport category.
