Hello from Pennsylvania

Hello, my name is Nicole and I'm a n00b from Pennsylvania currently considering a Versys for my second bike. My current ride, my first bike, is a Ninja 250. I wasn't really considering the Versys until last week, when I sat on one and realized how comfortable it is compared to some of the others I have been considering. I think it just became my first choice. I figured I'd check out the forums here for a bit while I make a decision.l

I'm in lust with the green one.

Hehe - I wanted a green ninja once I settled on the ninja 250 as a first bike, but the only green one I ever found was very heavily modified, and I didn't want to deal with that as a new rider. I found my blue one gently used at an amazing price, and Kawasaki's candy plasma blue is a very pretty color, but part of me has always wished it was green. Then I joined the day-glo-green jacket cult, and, well, green bikes clash slightly less.

I like the whole insect-like appearance of the green one. I imagine pulling into a parking lot full of people who have no idea what it is and saying matter of factly, "why, yes, I do ride a giant beetle."

Hi, and welcome to the forum. Where abouts in Pa are you located? Joined the day glo cult myself this past spring but mine is an o8 and therefore, very red!

Overcaffeinated (Nicole),

Good if you did a test ride to be sure of your decision.
The V a nice bike bike which shortcomings/strengths we do discuss in detail here. I think I have read more strengths here in this forum.

Hey Nicole, I really enjoyed my Ninja 250. You must be a long legged gal. I've got a candy apple green Versys.

Some nice twisty kinds of roads up here in the poconos. If you ever get up this way, feel free to let me know. Would be more than happy to ride with you.

Welcome. I'm near harrisburg as well, ride a Ninja 250, and am also considering the Versys as my next bike (well not considering, I have decided it will be, now its just a matter of when).

My local kawi dealership seems to be a huge fan of test rides. The Versys is up against the v-strom 650, a bike I have had a chance to ride, and though it feels rather awkward sitting still, I do like that v-twin grunt it has. So I guess I should say that the Versys is my new first pick pending a really great test ride.

I did look into its flaws a bit, and don't really see anything I'm not already coping with on a ninjette and have determined that I don't mind too much. Bar vibration? Uncomfortable seat? Bad in crosswinds? Are you kidding me? LMAO.

Local dealer Koup's? I also know that Pat and Son Kawasaki in Annville has a green one on the floor right now. I know it is further away, but Eric is great to deal with. I bought my ninjette there, and take it there for inspections (do all the other work myself).

Yep, Koup's. I love that place. My dad bought his Kawasakis there back in the 70's. I didn't buy my ninja there - got a great deal on a used one - but they have still always been great to me. They have a green Versys right now, or at least did two weeks ago. I was offered test rides on half their sales floor while I waited for my state inspection. Great shop.
