Versys Noob

Hello all. First off I would like to thankyou for the great site and the tons of useful information I have found here. The info here went a long way in helping me decide on getting the Versys.

I have been doing my homework, reading all the threads here for the last six weeks as I had to sell my BMW before I got the V. Well I finally waived goodby to that bike today and within a couple hours I was on my new brightass blue Versys headed out. I took the long way home.

What a great bike. I have had many different bikes over the years, starting waaay back in the late 60's, and I can tell I'm gonna like this one. I have been looking for a light bike for touring. I figure the Versys should be under
500 pounds even with hard bags and top case. The KGT I just sold was about 675 pounds. My not so good back could not take moving that thing around anymore when the engine was shut off.

So now I better get busy ordering all the farkles. The V35 Givis are already on the way. I'll try to post some pics as I progress. I will no doubt have some questions along the way. Thanks again. David

Welcome! There are a number of ex-BMW folks here. My last one was 2002 1150 GS Adventure. Talk about too big to push around! I was looking for a smaller bike that I could tour with and the Versys with V35 Givi's has worked out perfect. Had it almost 2 years and 6000 miles and just get to liking it more and more!

Yes I bobbed the rear fender. Got a swingarm stand with spools and that long extension on the fender was in the way. And Bear, the mods and farklefest is just getting under way. I'll post some pics in a few days.
